PRIMA QUEEN BROWNSTONE (VIDEO)

Following our review of Prima Queen’s playful indie tune ‘Brownstone’, for which we praised the rocking countermelodies, jangling guitar chords and soothing vocal harmonies, we’re pretty chuffed to feature the new music video. While the song speaks of “brownstones in Brooklyn”, the video contrasts that with brick houses in Brockley, a borough of London, and therefore mirroring the unique relationship between the band’s transatlantic songwriting duo. Best friends Louise Macphail from Bristol, UK and Kristin McFadden from Chicago, USA, initially wrote ‘Brownstone’ back and forth via WhatsApp voice memos while in their respective home countries, which really does show how technology can aid creativity in the most unexpected of ways. Now, turning back the video - the pair say that, “We filmed this a while ago when things were a little bit more cheerful. It was shot around our neighbourhood in London on the roads between our two houses. We wanted to capture the feeling of being disillusioned yet hopeful, so we wore pink cowboy hats and sang about not believing in the American Dream.” Without further ado, go ahead and watch these paradoxically dreamy Taylor Torr-directed visuals for Prima Queen’s ‘Brownstone’ below. - Hannah Thacker
